Wang Zhongwei's inscription
At 14:28 p.m. May 12 one year before, a massive earthquake struck Wenchuan of Sichuan Province. At the first moment, painter Gao Renqi from the Political Department of PLA Jinan Military Area, painters Luo Genxing and Kong Ping respectively from the General Armament Department and Political Department, Painter Xiong Jiahai from the Political Department of PLA Chengdu Military Area, and painter Qin Weiqing from the Political Department of the PLA Navy, gathered in Beichuan, one of the worst-hit areas, and they were the only five military painters who could enter the dangerous city before it was in general blockade. In the almost fattened Beichuan, the five artists with extreme grieve over compatriots were devoted themselves to the creation heart and soul, and therefore turned out these amazing masterworks with intense sense of site and visual impacts. These works condensed the lofty awe and respect of the five military artists towards life, and some works were even created and finished by the painter with the last stage of life, which depicted the glory of life.
